PROFESSOR DAVID SCOTT

David is Professor and Director of the Department of Anaesthesia. David has a keen interest in pain and cognition and has established research in both fields. David is Principal Investigator of a number of studies, including the AHEAD, BOUNDARY, BRAIN-S and PROTECT  studies.

A/PROFESSOR BRENDAN SILBERT

Brendan is Associate Professor and staff anaesthetist who has driven the research of this centre since its inception. Brendan is recognised as a leader in the field of cognitive research and anaesthesia. Brendan is Principal Investigator of a number of studies, including the NHMRC funded ANTIPODES Trial, the AHEAD study and the ACE Study.

A/PROFESSOR LIS EVERED

Lis has a science background in clinical research and biostatistics. Her PhD investigated the short and long-term cognitive and functional impact of surgery and anaesthesia, in particular considering progression to dementia in the long-term. Lis oversees clinical research in the Department of Anaesthesia, and specifically manages the cognitive research team. Lis is Principal Investigator of a number of studies, including the NHMRC funded AHEAD study.

DR KELLY ATKINS

Kelly is a registrar clinical neuropsychologist with a background in progressive neurological illnesses, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s disease. Having completed her clinical doctorate at Monash University, Kelly manages the PROTECT trial and is responsible for the study’s brain health interventions. Outside of St Vincent’s, Kelly works clinically as a psychologist with people who are concerned about their memory or thinking abilities, particularly after anaesthesia and surgery.

MS ERIKA FORTUNATO

Erika is a research assistant and provides valuable support in the recruitment, data collection and day-to-day running of our studies. Erika has recently enrolled in a Doctor of Psychology program at Swinburne University and will work part-time in our department while she completes her studies.

MS CAITLIN COHEN

Caitlin completed her Psychology Honours program in the department, investigating the long-term psychological outcomes after an episode of delirium. Since completing her Honours, Caitlin has commenced working as a research assistant in the department and will contribute to the recruitment and data collection efforts of our team.

MS NATASHA MANOVSKI

Natasha comes from a background in psychology, completing her honours in psychology at Monash University. She works in the department full-time as a clinical research assistant and is involved in the recruitment, data collection and day-to-day running of our studies.
