Prospectively monitored cognitive function following Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) Surgery

Identified the prevalence of Pre-existing Cognitive Impairment (PreCI)

Identified the incidence of Post Operative Cognitive Dysfunction (POCD) in patients undergoing CABG surgery at 3 and 12 months post surgery

Identified an association between amyloid beta at baseline and POCD

Will identify the incidence of POCD at 5-7 years post CABG surgery

Will identify the rate of conversion to dementia in patients 5-7 years after undergoing CABG surgery

Will investigate the incidence of acute and chronic pain following CABG surgery

Will identify the incidence and severity of depression up to 7 years post CABG surgery

Participants included people between 2001 and 2003 who were:

55 years of age or more

Scheduled for elective, first time Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) Surgery
